The pool is open. The lemonade has been made. The grill is getting hot. Summer is in the air. And homeschooling mothers everywhere breathe a sigh of relief. Another year finished!
But as soon as we turn in the final portfolio or take end of the year tests, our thoughts start to turn to plans for next year. Where do we even begin? Excellent published resources have flooded the homeschooling market. It can be difficult to even know what we want in a curriculum, let alone what we need.
Write the Vision and Make it Plain–Habakkuk 2:2
Pam Barnhill’s Plan Your Year begins with considering your big picture vision for your homeschool. She walks you through how to create concrete goals based on your vision statement that can provide real help when sifting through homeschooling choices. With a sense of the overall vision, you can weigh specific curriculum choices to find the ones that best align with your goals.
Plan Your Best Year Ever!
But the vision is just the beginning! With video lessons and printable forms, Pam walks you through each step of making that vision a reality. From purchasing supplies to organizing the school room, Plan Your Year moves step by step to get you ready for your best homeschool year yet!
The best place to start is by grabbing Pam’s free Homeschool Planning Mini Kit. This collection of printables includes my absolute favorite planning tool: the year-at-a-glance calendar. On one sheet I mark off holidays and vacations and plan both our school days and our breaks. Nothing brings peace like knowing you are on track and exactly when a break is coming!
Plan Your Year isn’t just pretty printables; this year Pam is also hosting co-working sessions! All Summer long you can join with other mamas working on their own planning, and Pam will be on hand to answer questions or brainstorm if you hit a roadblock. There are also two workshops about planning for high school and stating the year strong!
But you don’t have to take my word for it! Download the free planning pages. Start thinking through what you want your homeschooling days to look like. The homeschool market is full of worthy curriculum. Plan Your Year will help you clarify your priorities so that you can make the best choices for your family.

Yeah, you should be thinking about the new homeschool year’s schedule right now. I want to make a plan to avoid the many mistakes I made last year because of my poor preparations.
I’m new to homeschooling, we only started with the kids last year after moving to another city. But I can already see the many benefits of homeschooling.
Thank you for making the planning kit available.

Every year gives us the chance to evaluate and make changes to bring us closer to our purposes in homeschooling. All the best in this new year, Sue.
