Do your children enjoy reading books about travel and adventure?
One of our favorite stories is Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne.
Although my boys enjoy reading interesting books, they also like to be active! We often read books aloud as a family so we can have discussions as we move through the materials. But, to really help bring our learning to life, we also look for ways to add in fun hands-on activities that are related to the books we are reading.
One of our favorite ways to add food, maps, games, and more to this classic adventure tale is by using the World for Learning World Study Guide: Around the World in 80 Days.
World Study Guides by World for Learning
Several years ago my friend Kat and I wanted to introduce our boys (between us we had 5) to classic literature. We decided to create a Book Club so our children could get together with their friends to explore some well-known stories.
Families would read the books aloud, at home, and then gather information about the book and author. With these details the children created mini books to guide and record their learning. When we met together as a group the kids would make crafts, taste foods, and participate in activities related to the story.
After a few years of successful book club meetings we decided to gathered our materials together and create World Study Guides so other families could enjoy these activities with their families too.
