As soon as Miss 12 finished the school year, she dove into a new project. She now spends hours with a globe every day, playing Seterra, a geography fact game. Her self-imposed goal is to get 100% on every single Seterra challenge, from flags of the world to countries of the world to capital cities of Africa and provinces of China. And she has come a long way.
So have we all. Occasionally Miss 9 is lured away from her schoolwork and ends up running back and forth from our huge wall map to Miss 12’s computer, helping to find answers. The rest of us can’t resist sitting down once in a while to see if we can match scores. And that is how we all continue to learn about the world.
So, what is Seterra? Honestly, it is the best geography fact resource I’ve ever come across. It’s an addicting computer game, a very efficient teacher, and completely free. In fact, this is the one resource (besides the Bible, of course) that I think every homeschooling family should have. I cannot say enough good about Seterra…which is why I’m writing about it here a second time.
For specific details about this free map quiz program, see my 2010 Curriculum Choice review of Seterra.
Or you can just go straight to the Seterra website to download the program.
Update: Miss 12 has reached her goal! She has actually gotten 100% on each of these geography quizzes, even learning the cities of Sweden.

Thank you so much Katie for all your wonderful information you have shared. I was wondering if more than one student can play seterra on the same computer? I wasn’t sure if Seterra kept up with what they had completed and started them from that point each time or if they just began anew each time.
Thanks.
