What is Elephango?
Elephango is an online learning program containing over 3,000 homeschool resources and lessons for grades preK-12. Within the platform the lessons are categorized by subject, grade, learning style, personality style, content type, lesson tyee and by time/units.
Get It! Got It! Go!
The Elephango website uses a systematic way of exploring each topic in their lessons with their Get It! Got It! Go! Sections within each lesson.
Get It! Is the learning portion, the gathering of information via videos and reading.
Got It! Once students have completed the Get It! learning section, they can move on to Got It! where they’ll find quizzes and other interactive activities where kids can show what they have learned.
Go! In this last section kids can dive deeper into the lesson topic, and often have a hands-on project or activity to extend their learning. {In the photo above, Lucas is creating his healthy plate. Ava decided that the activity Lucas was doing looked so fun that she wanted to do it too!}
Why Choose Elephango for Supplemental Homeschool Lessons?
1. One Subscription All Ages, Multiple Kids
With one Elephango subscription for homeschool you get access to ALL the lessons the platform has to offer. That’s supplemental homeschool lessons for every aged child in your house! And you can create individual accounts for up to four children!
This means each child will have both personalized lesson suggestions after completing the learning assessments, as well as access to any other lesson they choose.
2. Works with Multiple Learning Styles
As I mentioned above, Elephango includes both learning style and personality quizzes in their “Total Assessment” through Bridgeway Academy so that it can curate a personized selection of lessons for each child. This helps ensure your child’s learning needs are being met.
It was fun and interesting to see the completed assessments. While Lucas turned out to be a Visual Learner, mine said I was primarily an Auditory Learner.
3. Elephango Chrome Extension
A unique feature of Elephango is their Chrome Extension.
The Elephango Chrome Extension creates a landing page where kids can explore the Internet in a more secure, safer manner. It also allows you to easily search Elephango itself!
Once installed and activated the Elephango Chrome Extension changes your Google home screen to look like the photo above. From there you can customize it with a different photo if your child so chooses.
As you can see your children then have the option to just search Elephango, or to do a Google Search. The cool thing about this extension is that it’s not just a “traditional Google Search”. With the extension your child’s search results are not only safe, but also filtered and chosen based on the interests you have set up in Elephango.
